Visitors to the site can get
information on where to stay, where to visit, what to do, where
to eat and where to shop. The Web site is the brainchild of Geoff
Todd, of Highfield House Country Hotel and Restaurant in Hawkshead,
and is run by The Dedicated Partnership, a Web design firm from
Kendal.

Dr. Paul Johnson, of The Dedicated
Partnership, said: “The purpose is to rekindle tourist interest in Cumbria
and specifically the Lake District National Park, following the disastrous
impact of the outbreak of foot and mouth disease.”
Businesses pay £25 plus VAT to
be featured on the site, which is a non-profit making venture, most
of which goes to Cumbria Tourist Board’s fighting fund. So far, £500
has been raised.
