NORTH WEST EVENING MAIL GOURMET GUIDE, 1999
Restaurant with a lake view
The spectacularly situated restaurant of
the famous Miller
Howe Hotel in Windermere has undergone a huge facelift in readiness
for the millennium.
Miller
Howe, founded and made famous by celebrity chef and author, John Tovey,
has long been a venue for special occasions and gourmet cuisine.
Now with Tovey remaining a consultant, new
owners Charles and Iain Garside have introduced an element of choice to
complement the traditional set dinner menus at £35 a head.
Charles Garside is a former national and
international newspaper editor and has now mounted a Web camera above
the terrace at Miller Howe so that the spectacular views can be seen live
from anywhere in the world on the hotel's internet Web site - www.millerhowe.com.
And finally for the first time in its history
Miller Howe is now available for civil weddings with couples being able
to be married in the restaurant, in the conservatory or any one of three
elegant lounges.
Miller
Howe is now ready for the millennium.
